Things I love (For Now) - July 09 Edition

Hi Beauties,

So, it’s been over 1 month since my first “Things I love (for Now)” post. I’m overdue for an update. So, here goes.

MAC 134 Brush $52.00 USA
I can’t believe that I didn’t post this on the first edition of “things I love”. I use this brush every single day for my set-powder. Sometimes, I even use it both my contour and bronzing powder. This brush is so soft, I really adore it. It spreads the powder very lightly and since it’s rather large, the process is fairly quick. It is quite an investment to make for this brush, but I do believe it is necessary in any brush collection.

MAC Ravishing Lipstick (Cremesheen) $14.00 USA
Such a pretty light peach color. It has enough color that it shows up on my pigmented lips right away. I feel great when I wear this color. Something about the peach tone just brightens up my face. I like to wear it with a light eyeshadow combination and black eyeliner + peachy cheeks. Really a nice addition to your summer lip colors.

MAC Studio Moisture cream $31.00 USA
This moisturizer is so wonderful! I wear this everyday under my “face” and it feels great. It is a VERY thick formulation which is not really ideal for summer time. However, I have recently started a dermatologist treatment for my skin that is very drying. This helps to correct any dry patches on my skin and my foundation looks wonderful. Highly recommended for any dry skin types and during the winter.

Anastasia Brow Powder Duo $22.00 USA
I bought this recently and now I can’t leave my house without filling/shaping my eyebrows. I picked up the color “brunette” and it matches my brows so perfectly. Usually, darker skin types have trouble finding a good color match for eyebrow filling because most shades tend to be too gray. And who wants to look ashy?

Stila Kajal Eyeliner in Onyx $18.00 USA
Very basic item but I do love using it. It is super duper dark! I have very sensitive eyes and the Stila Kajal liner does not upset them which a great plus for me. The CON to this pencil is how soft it is. You have to use it with caution because you will get raccoon eyes. I recommend smudging it out a little and sealing it with Black Eyeshadow.

Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Balm $60.00 USA
I bought this item when Bobbi Brown was having a summer sale a few weeks ago. I like this item because I can totally feel a difference in my eyes the morning after I use it. I know that these types of eye treatments take quite some time to see the effects but I just know this is already helping my early crows-feet and swelling around my eyes. It is very moisturizing and I would recommend it.

Do you use any of these products already?

XOXO,
Awilda

Shoes That Make My Knees Weak!

Hi Beauties!

Today's post has nothing to do with makeup. It's all about shoes I adore (but can't afford) and some wallet friendly similar alternatives. I have to admit that shoes have a very special place in my heart, right next to the makeup of course! I drool over shoes from premium designers and while my wallet is not very heavy, I still daydream. Here, I selected some of my current favorite 'obsessions' and some wallet-friendly alternatives.

Splurge: Christian Louboutin Pigalle 120

Steve Madden Nicolett Black Patent

Splurge: YSL Easy Open Pumps

Steven by Steve Madden Smittin

Splurge: YSL Triptoo Pumps

Steve Madden Symbill Pump (eventhough it's not patent leather, the style is similar)

Splurge: Christian Louboutin Paris 100

Steven by Steve Madden Blazzer

Splurge: Brian Atwood Hidden Platform Pumps

Steve Madden Slique Taupe Snake Pumps

Splurge: Christian Louboutin Nitoinimoi Bandage Ankle Boots

Steve Madden Towwer

Splurge: Christian Louboutin Very Prive Peep-Toe Pumps

Steve Madden Brriggt Black Multi

I hope you girls enjoyed looking at the shoes as much I do. I have a serious thing for Lubus. So much, that when I become rich one day (lol), I would love to have a closet full of them. In the meantime, I will settle for my 1 and only pair.

XOXO,
Awilda

Illmasqua - Ready To Rock New York!

Hi Beauties,

As some of you may have heard (though the cosmetics-obsessed-grapevines), the UK based cosmetics brand, Illamasqua, has posted official news regarding the Launch of the brand in New York City. The brand is already a big hit in the UK and word has it that this could be a MAC competitor. And seriously, we need more cosmetics than just MAC.

The launch is scheduled for July 31st at the Sephora in Times Square. The brand will be rolling out the their collection throughout 26 different USA Sephora stores in the coming months.

I will most definitely will be attending this much awaited launch at the Times Square store.

Anyone else coming?

Quick Fix: Dealing with Eyeshadow Fallout

Hi Beauties!

I know, I know. I've been super lazy with the posts lately. I'm Sowy! I'm back!

Here's a great quick fix for Dealing with Eyeshadow Fallout:

1. It's always best to start with your eye makeup and follow with foundation. This way, any fallout could be easily removed instead of ruinning your perfect foundation.

2. If you follow step 1: You can easily get a bit of your moisturizer on at a Q-tip, and sweep away any powder that fell below your eyes and on your cheeks.

3. Finish with your foundation! Voila!

Bonus: Before you begin any makeup, moisturize your face. While you apply your eye makeup, the moisturizer will have time to be absorbed into your skin. This ensures beautiful looking foundation.

XOXO,
Awilda

MAC Colour Craft Collection Haulin'!

Hi Beauties,

If you are tuned in to my twitter, you'll know that I went over to MAC today to check out the MAC Colour Craft Collection.

As usual, I'd like to share with you what I picked up and my initial thoughts.
Sunny By Nature MSF
By far the prettiest and most wearable of the bunch. They are all fabulous but I know that the few MSF's I own sit inside my vanity desperately waiting to get used. Unfortunately, MAC has a habit of going overboard on the shimmer.
*****"Dearest MAC, We the makeup-addicts also have day (office) jobs, and we, really don't look good under office lighting with those gold cheeks! The MSF's are too shimmery".*****

Anyway, it is a beautiful bronzey color with a few veins in light pink. This one is fantastic for contouring, bronzing or even allover the face for a warmer skin tone. This color may be too light for darker WOC but the "Warm Blend"* 3-color MSF will probably work perfectly. *disclaimer: it has gold shimmer. Read above.*

Style Demon Mineralize Blush
Deep cinnamon-rose with gold shimmer. When I got home I compared it on my Brunette MSF and they are quite similar. I may have to exchange this one. :-(

Nice Mix Up Lipglass (marbled)
Gorgeous orangey-bronze color. The consistency is quite sticky but the color payoff is way better than the Tri-color Lipglasses from the Sugarsweet Collection. Overall a nice addition but not a must have.

Miss Marble Lipglass (marbled)
This is soft muted pink color. I have an abnormal obsession with pink lipglosses/lipsticks/blushes, whatever, that I felt I needed this one. But if you are 'normal' and you have other pinks this is not a must have.

Trimming Talk Lipstick (Frost)
GORGEOUS! WOW! I love this color. The frost part is barely noticeable but the pink is to die for! You do need to add 2+ coats to hide the pigmentation from your own lips but once you do, it's amazing. I am wearing it as I type this and I don't want to take it off. LOL

MAC 131 Brush
I haven't tried this brush yet but I can see myself using it for liquid foundation, powder blushes, cream blushes, MSFs and highlight. It really is too expensive as are most MAC brushes, but I just see so many possibilities with this one.

Happy Shopping!

XOXO,
Awilda
